No. 1 Novak Djokovic (SRB) v Ricardas Berankis (LTU) No. 3 Rafael Nadal (ESP) v Cameron Norrie (GBR) No. 8 Roger Federer (SUI) v Dominik Koepfer (GER) No. 9 Matteo Berrettini (ITA) v Soonwoo Kwon (KOR) No. 10 Diego Schwartzman (ARG) v Philipp Kohlschreiber (GER) No. 18 Jannik Sinner (ITA) v Mikael Ymer (SWE) Marco Cecchinato (ITA) v Lorenzo Musetti (ITA) (Q) Carlos Alcaraz (ESP) v Jan-Lennard Struff (GER) On court today… • Novak Djokovic continues his quest for a 2nd Roland Garros title today, facing Ricardas Berankis in the 2nd match on Court Philippe-Chatrier. The world No. 1 has cruised through his opening 2 matches here this year, and he will be confident of adding another victory this afternoon/evening. Should he do so, he will reach the round of 16 here for the 12th consecutive year, and claim sole ownership of the Open Era record for longest streak of Roland Garros round of 16 appearances, ahead of both Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, who both reached the last 16 here on 11 straight occasions in 2005-15. Berankis, meanwhile, is aiming to reach the round of 16 at a Grand Slam for the first time – but he will need to record his first victory against a world No. 1 if he is to progress. • Roger Federer has continued to impress on his Grand Slam comeback here, with the 20-time Grand Slam champion recording a 4-set victory over Marin Cilic on Thursday. The Swiss is aiming to reach the round of 16 at a Grand Slam for the 68th time and extend his all-time record for most round of 16 appearances at the Grand Slams. His opponent, Dominik Koepfer, is one of 3 German men in action today, alongside Philipp Kohlschreiber (who plays No. 10 seed Diego Schwartzman) and Jan-Lennard Struff (who plays qualifier Carlos Alcaraz). Should Koepfer, Kohlschreiber and Struff all win and join Alexander Zverev in the round of 16 here, it would be the first time in the Open Era that 4 German men have reached the round of 16 at a Grand Slam. • The 2nd all-Italian clash of the tournament takes place on Court 7 today, with 2018 Roland Garros semifinalist Marco Cecchinato up against Grand Slam debutant Lorenzo Musetti – it is the 10th all-Italian match-up in the men’s singles at Roland Garros in the Open Era. Cecchinato and Musetti are 2 of the 4 Italian men remaining in the tournament following Fabio Fognini’s defeat to Federico Delbonis on Friday. Should both of the other 2 Italian men in action today – Matteo Berrettini (who plays Soonwoo Kwon) and Jannik Sinner (who plays Mikael Ymer) – win their matches it will be the first time in the Open Era that 3 Italians have reached the last 16 at a major. • Sinner and Musetti are 2 of the 3 teenagers competing today, alongside 18-year-old Spanish qualifier Carlos Alcaraz, who plays Jan-Lennard Struff in the 2nd match on Court Simonne-Mathieu. Alcaraz has been setting age-related records throughout the week, and could make more history this afternoon. Should he defeat Struff, he will become the youngest man to reach the round of 16 at a Grand Slam since 17-year-old Andrei Medvedev at 1992 Roland Garros. If all 3 teenagers win today, it will be the first time that 3 teenagers have reached the 3rd round of the men’s singles at Roland Garros since 1990, when 19-year-old Jim Courier and 18-year-olds Michael Chang and Goran Ivanisevic all reached the last 16 here.
