Of the 12 ties in World Group I, 10 are taking place this weekend, with the other 2 ties having been held in March. From the 12 ties in World Group I this year: • The top 8 highest-ranked winning nations will compete in the 2022 Davis Cup Qualifiers • The 4 other winning nations will contest 2021 Davis Cup World Group I Knock-outs in November – the 2 winning nations from these ties will compete in the 2022 Davis Cup Qualifiers; the 2 losing nations from these ties will compete in the 2022 Davis Cup World Group I Play-offs • The 12 losing nations will compete in the 2022 Davis Cup World Group I Play-offs The Davis Cup World Group I Knock-outs (due to be played on either 26-27 November or 27-28 November) have been arranged to facilitate the transition from 18 teams at the Davis Cup Finals in 2021 to 16 teams at the Davis Cup Finals from 2022 onward
