At the 2026 Milano–Cortina Winter Paralympic Games wheelchair curling mixed team round robin, ParalympicsGB lost 5–8 to Latvia. The British side attempted several comebacks during the match but failed to capitalize in key ends and ultimately suffered a disappointing defeat.
The loss leaves the team facing a difficult situation in the standings. According to the schedule, they will play their final round-robin match against Norway at 5:35pm GMT the following day, hoping to end their campaign on a positive note.
After the match, 56-year-old British wheelchair curler Stewart Pimblett admitted the team’s performance was below their usual level. “To be honest, we were a bit flat today. It wasn’t the level I want to play at, especially for me personally.”
He said the team struggled throughout the game to find the right draw weight. “I don’t really know what went wrong. They’re a team we should be beating. We were trying to find the right weight and line, especially me. Usually I’ve got that draw weight in my back pocket, but tonight it just wasn’t there.”
Despite the disappointment, Pimblett said the team would quickly regroup. “We move on. There’s one more game tomorrow and we’ll do our best to play well and bring some pride back for the team.”
