(By May Zhao)Flame Lit in Mandeville as Milano Cortina Paralympics Enter “Warm-Up Mode”
From 9:45 to 11:00 this morning, the Flame Lighting Ceremony for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympics was successfully held in Stoke Mandeville, the United Kingdom.
Italy’s Para ice hockey captain Andrea Macri and Britain’s Para alpine skier Millie Knight jointly ignited the Paralympic Flame.
Speeches were delivered by IPC President Andrew Parsons, ParalympicsGB President Dan Brooke, and Buckinghamshire Lord-Lieutenant Elizabeth Howe, among other distinguished guests.
The ceremony was hosted by British Paralympic legend Sarah Storey.
The Flame will next travel to Italy, where it will begin a 12-day, 2,000-kilometre Torch Relay.
