(M Bird A. Simith)Newcastle United had an unexpected away win at Everton, Callum Wilson scoring both goals. Crystal Palace defeated Wolves by a single goal . Aston Villa winning by the single goal at Southampton to continue their fine form. West Brom fought back to get a 2-2 draw against Fulham but really need to turn draws into victories if they are to survive. Manchester City outclassed bottom club Sheffield United but scored only a single goal through Gabriel Jesus. Manchester United versus Arsenal ended goalless .


Patrick Bamford scores for Leeds then celebrates

Chelsea got a first win for new manager Thomas Tuchel defeating Burnley by 2-0 with goals from Azpilicueta and Alonso. Leeds United, who play an attacking, exciting brand of football we’re 3-1 winners at Leicester who are missing the injured Jamie Vardy. Patrick Bamford was outstanding for Leeds scoring one goal and making the third for Jack Harrison.



Mo Salah scores for Liverpool and then celebrates with his Liverpool team


Liverpool visited a much improved West Ham United without Mane and with defensive problems. The first half was quite defensive but in the second half Liverpool showed that they will not be giving up the title without a fight. Mohamed Salah scoring twice and Wijnaldum the third whilst Craig Dawson got a consolation goal for West Ham.

Tottenham fell to a second straight defeat when they lost by a single goal scored by Trossard at Brighton. This was Brighton’s first home win of the season.


The weekend’s results mean Manchester City lead the Premier League with 44 points followed by Manchester United on 41, Liverpool are in third place with 40 points. Brighton’s win means they are in 17 th place but 7 points clear of Fulham who are in the relegation places.

In La Liga Atletico Madrid still lead following a 4-2 victory at Cadiz. Real Madrid suffered a home defeat to Levante by 2-1 Barcelona replaced Real in second place on goal difference following victory over Athletic Bilbao by 2-1 Messi opening the scoring with a magical free kick
