Greaves Edges Sherrock in Thriller to Clinch Historic Third Women’s World Matchplay Title

Beau Greaves claimed a record-extending third Betfred Women’s World Matchplay crown after defeating Fallon Sherrock 6–5 in a dramatic last-leg final at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool on Sunday.

The 22-year-old enjoyed an impressive run to the title, opening with a 5–1 victory over Kirsi Viinikainen, highlighted by brilliant 148 and 144 checkouts. She then survived a deciding-leg semi-final against Gemma Hayter to reach her third final in four years.

Sherrock struck first in the final, taking a 2–1 lead, but Greaves responded with a clinical 120 checkout and capitalised on missed doubles to move 5–3 ahead. Sherrock fought back to force a deciding leg before Greaves sealed victory with a composed 15-dart finish.

“I felt more relief than celebration,” Greaves admitted afterwards. “Last year’s disappointment stayed with me, so getting the title back means a lot. Neither of us played our best, but winning was all that mattered.”

The victory earned Greaves the £15,000 top prize and secured her places in the 2026 Mr Vegas Grand Slam of Darts and the 2026/27 Paddy Power World Darts Championship. She added that improving her stage performances remains her next goal.

Sherrock narrowly missed out on a second Women’s World Matchplay title despite an outstanding campaign. She whitewashed Deta Hedman, defeated defending champion Lisa Ashton 5–1, and reached a third consecutive final before falling short in another last-leg decider.

Elsewhere, Ashton booked her semi-final place with a 5–2 win over Rhian O’Sullivan, while Gemma Hayter rallied from 4–2 down to edge Vicky Pruim and reach her first Women’s World Matchplay semi-final.
