England’s World Table Tennis Team Championships Draw Sets the Stage: China, Japan, Korea, Germany, and France Gather on Home Soil
The draw for the final stage of the 2026 ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships was officially unveiled on January 26 at The Shard in London.
As the host nation, England will automatically compete in Stage 1a matches, which will take place from May 2 to 3 at the OVO Arena Wembley.
England’s men’s team has been placed in Group 1, alongside China, Sweden, and South Korea, forming what is widely regarded as a “group of death.”
The women’s team has been drawn into Group 2, where they will face Japan, Germany, and France—each a traditional powerhouse in world table tennis.
Under the competition format, all teams participating in Stage 1a will advance directly to the round of 32 knockout stage, with group-stage results used only to determine seeding.
The World Team Championships will conclude on May 10, when London will witness the crowning of a new generation of world champions.
