IPC Awards 2025 Classification Recognition to Five Trailblazers

[Bonn, Germany, 24 October] – The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) held the 2025 Classification Recognition Award ceremony at its headquarters in Bonn, honoring five individuals and teams for their outstanding contributions to Paralympic classification: Elsa Matthee, Prof. Datuk Dr. Rokiah Omar, the Frame Running Research Team, Dr. Dušana Augustovičová, and Dr. Jürgen Schwittai.
The awardees were selected through a rigorous global nomination process, covering research, education, leadership, and hands-on classification. IPC Director of Classification Tea Cisic stated that classification is the cornerstone of fair competition in Para sport, and the recipients have elevated global standards and expanded opportunities for athletes through their expertise and dedication.
The awardees have achieved milestone contributions in boccia and cerebral palsy sports, vision impairment classification, Frame Running, Para karate, and Para sailing. According to the IPC, their work advances fairness and inclusion in Para sport, leaving a lasting impact on global sports governance.
