Ono improves with better second run

Wow, Ono Mitsuki, take a bow. She performs the same five tricks as she did in her first run – a frontside 900, backside 540, frontside 720, cab 720, and frontside 540 – but her style has clearly impressed the judges more on this attempt.

She scores 83.75 to move up to second. Both she and Chloe Kim (USA), who fell on her second run, are guaranteed qualifiers, as is the hosts' Cai Xuetong (CHN).

Ono, the Lausanne 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games champion, told Olympics.com in the mixed zone: “I’m so happy to be here and I was able to do what I wanted to do in qualifying.

“I respect Chloe Kim so much. She’s so kind. It’s an honour to compete next to her at the Olympics.”
