In the Premier League the eagerly awaited game between the top two Liverpool and Manchester United ended in a goalless draw. The point means Manchester United stay in first place and Liverpool drop to fourth. The match failed to live up to expectations and Manchester United had the better of the chances. Liverpool can thank goalkeeper Becker for keeping the ball out of the net. He made two world class saves to thwart United.

Tottenham defeated Sheffield United by 3-1 Aurier, Kane and Ndombele scoring for Spurs and McGoldrick getting the consolation for Sheffield United. This defeat leaves Sheffield rooted to the bottom of the table already eleven points from safety and needing a miracle to survive.

John Stones heads Manchester City into the lead v Crystal Palace

Manchester City defeated Crystal Palace with ease scoring 4. John Stones netted twice and this result means Manchester City are now in second place with a game in hand on local rivals United and just two points behind with a superior goal difference. City’s other goals were great strikes from Gundogan and Sterling.

Chelsea beat Fulham 1-0 in the all London clash and high flying Leicester defeated Southampton by 2-0 to secure third place.

In the Midlands Derby there was a big surprise when struggling West Brom defeated Wolves by 3-2. This victory leaves West Bromwich five points from safety but gives them a fighting chance of survival.

West Ham beat Burnley via an Antonio goal and Leeds lost at home to struggling Brighton, Neil Maupay with the goal.

Nick Powell heads Stoke City's goal at Blackburn Rovers

In other games Norwich defeated Cardiff by 2-1. Watford eased past Huddersfield 2-0 and Blackburn and Stoke fought out a 1-1 draw.

It is the FA Cup next week so only one Premier League game will take place Aston Villa taking on Newcastle United
