Record-Breaking 1.13 Million Enter 2026 TCS London Marathon Ballot
The 2026 TCS London Marathon, set to take place on Sunday, April 26, has smashed global records with 1,133,813 people entering the public ballot—an increase of 36% from last year’s world record of 840,318 and nearly double the 578,304 applicants in 2024.
Of these, 869,803 applications came from the UK, comprising 433,775 men (49.87%), 430,983 women (49.55%), and 5,044 non-binary applicants (0.58%). A total of 264,011 applications came from international runners.
The record-breaking ballot was once again managed by Let’s Do This (LDT), as part of a five-year partnership with the London Marathon organisers.
Event Director Hugh Brasher said: “This astonishing number reaffirms that London is the most popular marathon in the world. Marathon Day showcases the unity and inspiration of our city—this year’s was the best ever.”
The 2025 edition saw a record 56,640 finishers, earning a Guinness World Record for the largest marathon in history. More than 15,000 children took part in the 40th TCS Mini London Marathon the day before, with hundreds of thousands of schoolchildren joining in from across the UK.
