Group C of the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile has taken a dramatic turn. Morocco stunned the group by defeating both Brazil and Spain, securing early qualification, while Mexico drew both of its first two matches. Five-time champions Brazil and Spain, returning to the tournament after 12 years, each sit on one point and will face off in the final group match, with one team potentially being eliminated.
Both teams must win to advance. A draw would leave them dependent on a Mexico loss to Morocco and other group results to determine final standings. Spain’s weaker goal difference puts them in a more precarious position, while Brazil, despite its storied history, has shown inconsistent form and faces significant pressure.
Brazil captain Iago Teodoro and coach Ramon Menezes have emphasized giving their all and treating the match as a “final.” Spain will rely on its young core to leverage technical skill and ball control to survive. The high-stakes clash will take place on October 4 at 5:00 p.m. local time at the Julio Martínez Prádanos National Stadium in Santiago and has already become the most anticipated match of the tournament.
