The Islamic Solidarity Sports Association (ISSA) has confirmed that Uzbekistan, Malaysia and Iran have officially submitted bids to host the 2029 Islamic Solidarity Games.
ISSA will conduct inspection visits to each country to assess venues, infrastructure and organizational plans before making a final decision. The visits mark a key step in expanding opportunities for member nations to stage major multi-sport events.
ISSA Secretary General Nasser Majali welcomed the strong interest, saying it highlights the growing profile of the Games and their contribution to regional and international sport.
“It is encouraging to see three capable countries stepping forward to host the next edition,” Majali said. “These evaluations ensure the Games meet top standards and reflect ISSA’s commitment to broader member participation.”
Six countries initially expressed interest, but after review, Uzbekistan, Malaysia and Iran advanced to the final bidding stage.
The Riyadh 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games, featuring 3,500 athletes from 57 nations competing across 23 sports, will take place from 7–21 November 2025, marking the event’s return to Saudi Arabia two decades after its inaugural edition.
