On Sunday evening, a serious incident occurred during Liverpool FC’s victory parade in central Liverpool, when a car drove into a crowd on Water Street, injuring at least 27 people, two of them seriously.

Merseyside Police confirmed the incident took place shortly after 18:00 BST. A 53-year-old man has been arrested and is believed to be the driver.

Witnesses reported that the vehicle suddenly accelerated into the densely packed crowd, knocking people down and triggering panic. Emergency services and armed police quickly responded and secured the area.

The scene was temporarily cordoned off as investigations began. Authorities are currently examining the motive and have called for witnesses to come forward.

The day’s celebrations marking Liverpool’s Premier League triumph were overshadowed by the shocking incident.
